            01: The Orchid Growers Manual by H Williams Rp300,000  Consisting of 764 pages, printed in 1961, this has been a great reference book for me. Listing all species, and covers habitant with a full listing and descriptions of all species in all genera.

 

            02: Manual of Orchidaceous Plants Volume 1 + 2 by Veitch Rp300,000  These books give a very comprehensive description of all species orchids, consisting of Vol 1 = 160 pages and Vol 2 = 194 pages. These books were printed in 1963. The books are in new condition and will add value to your research library.

 

            03: Encyclopaedia of Cultivated Orchids by Alex Hawkes. Rp250,000 602 pages full of reference material listing all species orchids, colour and black & white photos. This book was printed in 1965 and contains cultural information too.

 

            04: The Manual of Cultivated Orchids by P Cribb. Rp250,000 Some 440 pages of information on all species, covering natural habitant, history,  and synonyms.

 

            05: Sarcochilus Orchids of Australia Rp200,000  This is a signed copy by the author Walter Upton, printed 1992. This publication covers species and hybrids and seed germination. Consisting of all coloured pictures illustrating flowers, plant growth, species and hybrid crosses. This an exciting book as hybridists are now breeding these with the vandaceous group. The results will be interesting.

            11: Tropical Orchids of Australia by Lavarack and Gray. Rp200,000  176 pages of information covering Orchid Habitant, Cultivation, Conservation, Classification, Name Changes, and Natural Hybrids. Coloured Photos and lined drawing are illustrated throughout this book.

 

            12: Australian Terrestrial Orchids by C & D Woolcock. Rp150,000  154 pages of all you need to know about Aust. Terrestrials. Well defined coloured drawings of all species listed with cultural information. If you like Aussie species this book is for you.

 

            13: Minature Orchids by Rebecca Northern. Rp200,000 188 pages, with a contents of Orchids in the Wild Environment, Basic Cultivation and Species. Plant descriptions are good and informative, all pictures are black and white.

 

            14: Orchids for Everyone by Brian Williams. Rp300,000  208 pages, with well over 200 colour pictures, this is a large book and the pictures are big. Contents History of Orchids, Where to Grow, Pollination, Pests and Diseases, Breeding and Tissue Culture. This is a very nice book, good information, great colour pictures and a joy to read.

 

            15: Epiphytic Orchids of Sth Africa by Harrison. Rp200,000  Small book with 99 pages, well illustrated line drawings of all species, Distribution maps with descriptions, Glossary of Botanical Terms. Good small reference book on species.

 

            16: Lycaste Orchids by Fred Alcorn. Rp250,000  60 pages of all you need to know to grow Lycaste Orchids successfully. Contents Natural Environment, Cultivation &  Hybridisation. All colour Photos illustrated.

 

            17: Indian Orchids : Guide to Identification and Culture by Udai Pradhan. Rp50,000  188 pages of coloured photos mixed with line drawings. Some of the species covered are Paphiopedilum’s, Peristylus, Goodyera, Zeuxine, Spiranthes, Galeola, just to mention a few.

 

            18: Title unknown as this book is written in Japanese. Rp200,000 The book has an excellent array of colour photos with the genus written in English. A good book with great variety of species. Some of the genus covered Paphiopedilum, Cattleya, Dendrobium, Cirrhopetalum, Zygopetalum, Lycaste, Miltonia, Aerides, Rhynchostylis, Angraecum, and many more.

 

            19: A History of Orchid Growers in New Zealand. Rp150,000  Soft cover, 143 pages, this is a story book detailing the history of orchid growers, with stories about their adventures, covering growing conditions, awards. Good reading material.

 

            20: Growing Orchids in Australia and New Zealand by G. Morrison. Rp150,000  Soft Cover. 80 pages with 48 colour pictures, covering topics like, Habitant, Anatomy, Naming Hybrids, Propagation-sexual & Asexual, Deflasking and Community Pots, Pests and Diseases. The list goes on with many aspects of orchid growing are covered here. Lots of reading in this book.

A small book of 69 pages, covering in depth the Lycaste family with Species information, Flower Descriptions, Habitant, Culture, Media, Temperature, Fertilising, Deflasking and a short hybridizing list of Registered Crosses.

 

            22: Cattleya Alliance – A Cultural Guide By Wellington Orchid Society. Rp100,000  Soft Cover. Some 206 pages packed full of information, all species are included with full written descriptions, a large colour section is featured in the center of this book. The rear of the book there is a section on Intergeneric Hybrids.

            34: Orchid Pests and Diseases by AOS. Rp200,000  Soft cover. 112 pages. Very good detailed pictures of Common Pests and Diseases with Remedies, Treating and Identifying Fungi Infections, Identifying Virus in plant leaf and flowers with examples.

 

            35: Orchid Growing by AOS. Rp200,000  Soft Cover.134 pages Full of coloured photos, covering the most popular orchid genera. Culture, Species information, Growing Orchids Indoors, Repotting, Intergeneric Hybrids are just a few of the topics covered.

 

            36: An Orchid Glossary by AOS. Rp200,000  each This is a very important book containing 95 pages of orchid pronounciations, for example Zygopetalum should be pronounced as (zye-go-PET-lum). This has been a very handy book for me during my orchid life. B/White pictures of flowers and Orchid Pioneers. (2) copies only.

38: Orchids Australia: A Bi-monthly publication, full set consisting of  12 years of copies  in total there are 72 magazines. Contents details subjects like Tissue Culture, Raising Orchids from Seed, hundreds of Species with full colour pictures and easy to read descriptions. Potting mixtures, orchid care, building a greenhouse etc (each magazine is 74 pages packed full of information)….only sold as a collection Rp350,000

 

39: American Orchid Society Magazines: These orchid bulletins are regarded as the Rolls Royce of orchid magazines, lots of valuable information for all orchid growers. 25 books in all these are the bigger book publication Rp250,000 for all AOS magazines listed in #39

 

40: American Orchid Society Magazines : This group represent the older editions, the information is still valuable and the descriptions simple to understand. Information on Hybrids, Cross Pollination, Tissue Culture, Potting Mixtures etc Issue begin 1966 x 5, 67x4, 68x1, 85x1  A total of 11 booklets. Rp50,000 for all AOS magazines listed

 

41: American Orchid Digest: A large book type magazine features the best species information, large full page colour with easy to read natural habitants. Pictures of orchids in the wild, topics covered like species, primary hybrids, complex hybrids etc. This is a quarterly magazine (out every 3 months) 1990x4, 91x3, 92x4, 93x4,94x4, 98x2, 2000x2, 01x3, 02x3, 03x4 = 33 booklets.
